How much longer do we have to put up with execrable policing?
What a good plan for Mother’s Day — papers and websites full of pictures of women being intimidated by police because they wanted to show their feelings about a woman being murdered — allegedly — by a police. Covid regulations — really? The vigil was outside and people were keeping a social distance until they were kettled by police.

It’s hard to think what Cressida Dick would have to do to be sacked. But then it’s scarcely believable that she’s head of the Met anyway. If you had taken a decision that led directly to the extrajudicial killing of an innocent man, would you feel you were in the right job? That’s the opposite of what police are meant to do.
Every time she pops up, I wonder how Jean Charles de Menezes’s family feel. And I wonder about the armed officers who were ordered to kill him. How are they doing these days?
Cressida Dick is not fit to be in charge of the paperclips cupboard. For too long she’s had a pass because of her sex. But she’s no friend to women or men. She has to go.
